With every release, the ArcGIS Location Services team continues to enhance features and refine data accuracy, helping developers deliver better, more seamless mapping experiences. The October 2025 update brings another round of improvements designed to empower developers and enhance end-user experiences. Here’s what’s new:

ArcGIS Places Service: Updated POI Data

The ArcGIS Places service gives developers access to global points of interest (POI) data which is vital for navigation, business analysis, and site planning. From locating nearby amenities to making informed location-based decisions, accurate POI data plays a crucial role. In this release, POI data has been refreshed to the August 2025 supplier vintage, ensuring more precise and up-to-date information on places worldwide.

ArcGIS GeoEnrichment Service: Updated Demographic Data

The ArcGIS GeoEnrichment service enables developers to enrich applications with demographic and socioeconomic insights. Updated three times a year, this service ensures access to the most current global datasets for smarter analysis and decision-making.

Highlights from the October 2025 update include:

• Global data updates for 26 countries and territories in North America and 46 across Africa, now refreshed to the 2025 vintage.
• Advanced demographics for France, updated to the 2025 supplier vintage.
• Traffic count data for the U.S., now aligned with the 2025 Q3 supplier vintage, supporting better traffic management and business planning.
• Esri U.S. Business Summary data, updated to August 2025. Please note that support for SIC Codes will be discontinued in early 2026; only NAICS Codes will be supported moving forward.
• Enhanced demographic, consumer, and business data for Canada, now updated to the 2025 supplier vintage, with new variables and refreshed business summary information.

ArcGIS Geocoding Service: Enhanced Data and Output Features

The ArcGIS Geocoding service has also received notable updates in this release, offering improved accuracy and more informative outputs.

Data enhancements include:

• Address improvements for Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Puerto Rico, the U.S., and the U.S. Virgin Islands
• Added sub-address support for Austria

API and service output updates:

• New REST parameter names for improved consistency
• A new output field, Potential ID, providing insights into unmatched sub-addresses (e.g., apartments)
